New Serial Tags on Select Entrematic Products Now Feature QR Data Codes
Provide service personnel quick digital access to detailed product service information and manuals
Entrematic announces that the company is now providing field service technicians a much more efficient method of accessing product maintenance information during on-site service calls via QR (quick response) data codes.
Using a QR code reader app (such as 3GVision’s i-nigma) on a smart telephone, tablet or iPad, technicians can simply scan a QR data code that’s laser-etched into the product’s black laminated metal serial tag to quickly access the most current Entrematic product information. This new initiative applies to all new Serco www.sercoentrematic.com dock levelers, trailer restraints and TKO® impactable dock doors.
As a result, the technician can then view and reference a variety of product information including the manual specific to that product, model number, size and capacity data, date of manufacture, operation instruction sheet (for replacement wall placards that become lost or damaged), product warranty information and the necessary billing paperwork.
“Rapidly disappearing are the ‘old school’ days of technicians hauling around numerous and often outdated product service manuals, or relying on end users for manuals that often get lost or misplaced,” said Justin Pearcy, Senior Marketing Specialist, Entrematic. “Technicians can now quickly access the maintenance information specific to that product digitally using only one smart device.”
Including QR data codes on Entrematic products is also a high-impact green initiative for the company as it transitions away from including product manuals with every single product shipment. This will dramatically reduce the amount of paper the company consumes since product manuals average about 50 pages each. In addition, Entrematic is replacing product manuals in every product shipment with a 24-inch by 36-inch quick install guide. The guide, which contains the installation and commissioning information for each product, also features a QR data code to link the guide to the corresponding product manual.
For older installed equipment, all legacy manuals are being added to the proper Entrematic product brand website so technicians have access to those as well. Upon request, Entrematic’s technical services group will send a hyperlink to the technician’s smart phone so he can immediately access the correct manual.
